THE CLIENT
Crew Concept is an educational platform with a mission to make a lasting impact on aerospace education. Through their Drone Soccer Academy, they merge STEM learning with the innovative sport of the future – drone soccer – to introduce students of all ages to the world of aviation technology. The academy’s activities include building, programming, flying, and repairing drones, with a strong emphasis on developing both technical and interpersonal skills such as teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving. With a focus on accessibility and inclusion, Crew Concept actively promotes participation among diverse age groups, nurturing interest in potential future careers in technical and aerospace fields. Positioning itself as a leading platform at the intersection of engineering education and exciting competitive drone sports/esports, Crew Concept offers a comprehensive, safe, and regulation-aligned system tailored for schools and universities seeking to enhance STEAM competencies and career readiness through challenging yet engaging programs.
THE OBJECTIVE
The primary goal was to design a functional, modular, and visually distinctive packaging system for the educational Drone Soccer kit. Given the large number of technical components—including the drone, controller, safety net (drone ball), tools, and learning materials—the packaging needed to ensure organized, secure storage for each element, while withstanding frequent use in educational settings. An additional requirement was to optimize packaging dimensions to reduce distribution and storage costs, without compromising quality, the unboxing experience, or internal organization.
THE SOLUTION
Our design approach focused on creating a comprehensive packaging system that combines clarity, usability, and strong brand identity. The main box was conceived as a sturdy, compact unit containing a set of precisely designed modules—drawers, compartments, and smaller boxes—allowing intuitive organization and quick access to all kit contents. Every component has a dedicated space tailored to its dimensions, ensuring protection during transport and repeated handling. The modular structure supports multiple openings and repackaging without loss of integrity, which is essential in classroom environments with frequent user rotation. Visually, the design centers around a stylized illustration of the drone ball, serving as the key graphic motif and the basis for the brand’s logo. A dominant purple palette reinforces recognition and modernity, while technical drawings and a clearly structured typographic layout provide additional product information. Special care was taken to balance technical precision with visual appeal—particularly for younger users—creating a system that communicates equally well to both educators and students. To ensure durability, the box is laminated with matte plastic-coated paper for protection against wear and frequent handling. This project embodies the synergy of rational structure and emotive design—perfectly aligned with real-world educational use and the brand’s ambition to inspire the next generation of aerospace innovators.
